Detour plot

"When you want someone dead, which road would you choose?"

Law student Harper suspects his scheming stepfather Vincent is responsible for the car accident that left his mother in a coma. One night, while drowning his sorrows in a whiskey bar in LA, he is approached by tough redneck Johnny Ray, who offers to "take care" of his father-in-law for $20,000. Drunk and furious, he agrees to the deal. When the next day Johnny shows up at the door with his girlfriend Cherry, he wants to get rid of it. But that turns out not to be so easy.

Great thriller. The story is quite manageable with a nice twist here and there, but playing with the timeline sometimes misleads you. The young cast also performs well. The ending could have been a little stronger, but this ending can also pass.

Raw crime film with clumsy acting and a scenario that too often unintentionally provokes laughter. The nicest scene is the one in which the film of the same name from 1945 by director Edgar G. Ulmer is shown on the protagonist's television. Furthermore, a film that is too cheap to forget very quickly. I don't want to call it a thriller, because the film is not exciting enough for that.

Not a particularly original crime film, but put together with just enough style and energy to stand out a little above the rest. The distinct story structure is also a plus. Unfortunately, the young cast is just a bit too lightweight to make an impression and in the end it could all have been a bit rougher and heavier, but oh well; quite a nice video. And that car is really cool.
