An exploitation film largely set at the beginning of the 20th century in the French Quarter of New Orleans. That is an interesting period because at that time the city was a hot spot for the development of jazz with names like Buddy Bolden, Jelly Roll Morton and the brilliant Louis Armstrong. In addition, there was also a very flourishing prostitution sector in the city (perhaps it is no coincidence that the house of the rising sun is located in New Orleans). In this film, ends meet: exploitation in the brothel while jazz legend Morton plays the piano keys. Louis Armstrong - Satchmo - also has some scenes as a child with the trumpet. Then you get scenes with a soft erotica content alternated or accompanied with artistic bravado. It seems a bit of a mindfuck, but on the other hand, Jelly Roll Morton and many other jazzmen would have actually made money playing the piano in the brothel.

For an exploitation film, the settings are incredibly well cared for and detailed. It looks like an A-movie - certainly a labor of love on the part of director and producer Dennis Kane.

The story itself is okay if you take it all with a grain of salt. Virginia Mayo - with her appearance - as a virgin did not seem very credible to me, but that did not bother me.

This seems to me to be a film that falls between two stools. For erotica lovers it will be too little, and fans of New Orleans jazz may not care for the halfEmmanuellethings. I enjoyed myself.
