Ryna plot
"Ryna, pays a heavy prize, in search of her identity"
With her cropped hair and greasy mechanic's overalls, taciturn 16-year-old Ryna looks just like a boy. All this in accordance with the wish of her father, who would rather have had a son and have unlearned all girlish inclinations from his daughter. In addition, her father does not want her to go out. Though she doesn't know any better, Ryna comes into conflict with her identity and goes to the village festival against her father's wishes, even dressed in a dress. From that moment on, problems arise.

Drama of narrow-mindedness and temper in the Romanian countryside, but also a drawing of loneliness, oppression and powerlessness.
The film was appreciated at many (smaller) film festivals.
It is not a great film, but one that nevertheless has enough content to make you think about the unfortunate circumstances in which people spend their lives.
Dorotheea Petre can certainly convince in the role of the young girl.

A good movie, but I'm not very impressed. The acting is good, it is a fairly fascinating story and not a dime a dozen. Nice to get a little glimpse into Romania. A 7. 3.5*

Film about a girl who is the daughter of the local garage owner. He prefers his daughter to be a boy, so she should dress like one. The film is not a high flyer and the story is not that much. But it all looks nice in a shabby rural Romanian setting. I actually think the ending of the film is a bit of a shame and would actually bring the film down a bit for me in terms of rating. But the majority of the film is ok and therefore three stars. The film is, as is often the case with films from the Balkans, again not an advertisement for Romania. All the prejudices we have against Romanians are once again confirmed. Of course, not many tourists come to that country. And yet I have no bad memories of my tour of Romania. I thought it was a nice country with really nice people.
