Berge in Flammen plot
The friendship between the two has been going on for years: Count Arthur Franchini, a descendant of ancient Roman nobility, and Florian Dimai, mountain guide and resident of the mountain village of Cortina d'Ampezzo in the Dolomites, which at the time was part of the Austro-Hungarian Empire. During a common mountain climb in August 1914, they are surprised by the general mobilization.
