Gang Related plot
"Some cops play by the rules. Their own."
Divinci and Rodriquez are two top detectives with the Metropolitan Police Department, who in their spare time earn some 'extra' by selling seized drugs. In order not to be recognized during a transaction, they decide to kill the drug dealers afterwards. They then investigate these killings themselves and label them as 'gang related'; settlements between two rival gangs. Everything seems to be going smoothly until one of their victims turns out to be an undercover DEA agent. The two corrupt detectives seem to be in serious trouble, but now they are put in charge of the murder case themselves. They soon find a bum who they blame for the murder. They are making a big mistake with this.

Belushi and Tupac manage to get into quite a bit of trouble as law enforcement officers in this film. Belushi always guarantees success within this genre. Tupac apparently still has to get used to the walls of Hollywood. Dennis Quaid outdoes himself in the role of the wanderer, and comes across very aptly as the black sheep. The film manages to dose the crime/drama well with some humor, making it a nice light-hearted film.

I never thought I would see James Belushi so prominently featured in a movie. Was that a bit of a coincidence or did that genuinely seem like... a good idea to someone? 2pac is charismatic as always, but has a bit of a thankless supporting role as a sidekick. James Earl Jones 'esquire' almost saves the day, with an inspired performance as the Most Shrewd Lawyer Ever. Truly a brother who evokes trust and awe with the sheer eloquence of his gesture. My dream is to one day be as convincing as he is to summon someone to stand down. Actually, I only watched this film for the modest pleasure of hearing Made N*ggaz by 2pac (FEATURING The Outlawz, namely: Gaddafi, EDI Mean, Napoleon, Hussein, Fatal, Kastro...) during an end-genre. It's something different than being on YouTube for the umpteenth time. To my dismay, Made N*ggaz (although included on the soundtrack, released by Death Row Records) is not played at all and we do get 'starin' at the world through my rear view'. Granted, that shit goes fast too, but what the hell is the thematic connection? Too bad we'll never be able to ask Pac again!

Mediocre film in which two police officers earn some extra money, until they make a mistake. A fairly standard police thriller set in Los Angeles. The story itself is certainly entertaining. However, it depends too much on coincidences and the two main characters don't exactly make the smartest decisions. Not annoying, but 3.0 stars would be a bit too much.
