La Maison des Bois plot

France in the First World War. A few hours from Paris, the Picard family lives in a quiet village in the countryside. Three young boys have come to live with them to protect them from the horrors of war. Hervé is one of these boys and the only one without parents. This makes him feel lonely and he hangs out with the eccentric old Marquis de Fresnois. The war is getting closer and closer to their village and this does not leave the boys untouched.
