Hank Martin (Will Rogers) runs a radio repair shop. One dark, stormy day, he is called to come to an old house to replace a battery. There he meets a mad scientist who claims he can speak to King Arthur over the radio.

Fortunately, I was able to view this second version. Screened on Turner Classic Movies in January 2021, it is a 1936 re-release with the 20th Century Fox logo. The opening and closing credits were redesigned, and the original exit music was added. The reduced running time of 85 minutes indicates that some editing work has been done. Most likely to meet production code requirements. These were not in effect during the film's original release.
Although the title of the film is "A Connecticut Yankee", this was not a film version of the 1927 Rodgers and Hart musical. This version was also based on the Mark Twain novel. In fact, this version was not a musical, and did not use the Rodgers and Hart score. The Rodgers and Hart version was never made into a movie. The name Roger, or Claremore, was an inside joke from Will Rogers himself. He was born in Claremore, Oklahoma. The film was included in the American Film Institute's-2000 list. This consists of 500 films, which were nominated for the Top 100 Funniest American Movies.
An entertaining polished version starring Will Rogers. He is therefore the main reason to view this version. The rest of the cast seems to have some difficulty with stilted dialogues.
