Joan Terry (Frances Langford), a country girl, dreams of becoming a well-known star on Broadway. She finds out that it's not all that easy. Together with a number of other talents, who are also tenants at her lodging house, she registers for a talent show. However, when Joan is chosen, her fiancé makes a fuss, because she doesn't like Joan starting a career on stage.
