Edie.

I'm actually mostly familiar with it as the subject of The Cult's song "Edie (Ciao Baby)," and it came up this week. Sonic Temple is a brilliant album anyway—every time I come across it, I wonder why I don't play it more often. Time to see an Edie movie, and what better one than this one?

That remains an open question for now, because this isn't very good—though you could also rightly say that this style has been well-regarded by countless later filmmakers. And yes, with the history of its creation, according to Wikipedia, it's perhaps admirable that something still came out of it, but the prevailing sentiment is that it's actually too sad and painful to see how far gone Edie is in most of the scenes—Oh, stars wrapped in your hair / Oh, life without a care / but you're not there.

And it all comes down to those last few words. Ciao baby.
