Fante-Anne plot
After a tiring journey, a mother and her daughter Anne knock on the door of the Storlien family farm. However, the two are sent away. They sleep in the barn that night, but when they are discovered the next day, the mother is dead. Anne is taken into the family and brought up without knowing her past. Years later she finds out. The relationship with her stepbrother takes on a different meaning, while she is also confronted with the love of servant Jon, who found her in the barn years ago.
