Cowboy Jeff Larabee (Bing Crosby) returns from the east and meets Doris Halliday (Frances Farmer) in the west. At first Jeff thinks the young girl is a vagrant, but he soon finds out that she is the niece of the owner of the farm where he works. His subsequent attempts to win her heart are unsuccessful, until she is threatened by gangsters...
