The Phantom of the Opera plot
"He committed unspeakable horrors...in the name of love."
Elena (Seymour), the wife of the brilliant conductor Sandor Korvin (Schell), commits suicide after receiving very bad reviews and the sinister Baron Hunyadi (Jeremy Kemp) seems to have something to do with it. In a fit of rage, Korvin attacks the writer of the play in question, but an accident disfigures him. He flees to the vaults of the opera house. Five years later, known as The Phantom of the Opera, he sees Maria (Seymour), who looks a lot like his former wife. However, her interest is in Hartnell (York). Korvin plots to exact revenge on the Baron, the critics and others who thwart him.
