Moontide plot

Unemployed French immigrant and docker Bobo takes a job in an American harbor town with Chinese live bait supplier Henry Hirota. Bobo gets to spend the night in Henry's boathouse. One night Bobo has had too much to drink and he fears that he may have killed someone while drunk, but he is not sure. The next evening, Bobo saves the prostitute Anna from drowning after attempting suicide and takes her under his wing. Anna is allowed to stay at Henry's boathouse and Bobo falls in love with her. Bobo's comrade, Tiny is not happy with this situation and he fears that Bobo will leave with Anna. Tiny blackmails Bobo into knowing more about Bobo's alleged murder while drunk. When Bobo and Anna nevertheless indicate that they want to get married, Tiny breaks through.
