Dreaming by Numbers plot

Each event has its own number according to the Italian number book Grimas. Neapolitans take this number system very seriously and hope to take advantage of it. Dreaming by Numbers visits a hundred-year-old lotto office in Naples where local residents and passers-by bet daily on numbers that are important to them. The numbers obsession sometimes takes on hilarious proportions ("what numbers does a dream about a crippled cockroach produce?"), but gambling often hides tragic stories. One historian sees parallels with Pythagoras' number theory, which in this way is kept alive in Italian folk culture.
