At night the German sometimes broadcasts those Italian seventies crime co-productions.

Unfortunately, they ignore the real classics and the giallo (not to mention the fact that they are dubbed in German).

If you do watch it, you will also regularly see Mario Adorf, who plays in dozens of these types of productions.

However, this film may go down as his masterpiece!!

A nail-biting quest through a communist Prague that is at least as oppressive as Venice in "Don't Look Now".

And the fact that our protagonist is already dead before the opening credits come makes it all even stranger.

It's only June, but this could be the cinematic highlight of 2010 for me.

Masterpiece!

Oh well Frenchman you're right...the first two points anyway...but okay I can add that given the genre and the design of the film, third point of criticism about I hadn't even noticed the place myself, but that isn't a stumbling block for me. What is annoying is that the film is not exciting or fascinating at any point during its running time. The mediocre story progresses slowly
and the cast fails to impress either. Barbara Bach even has a meager interpretation here.
The opening scene with the crow and the closing scene with that autopsy demonstration are positive scenes, but the rest are weak and boring. 4/10

A kind of mystery/horror thriller with a strong noir influence. I enjoyed the atmosphere, the characters, the structure, the beautiful settings... My first Aldo Lado and this leaves me wanting more. Ennio Morricone's score is of course also a strong point. It does not matter to me that the narrative cannot be reconciled with the geopolitical context of the time - as I read here on the forum. These types of films are there to entertain, not to inform. And the finale is also (horribly) strong.
