Lifeline to Victory plot

During the Second World War, the captain of the ship 'Firewood' has to make the crossing from Canada to Scotland. From the start, the journey seems to be cursed: accidents follow one another, a man goes overboard and a leak occurs. In addition, the captain feels increasingly responsible for the death of his predecessor. On the return trip, however, he gets the chance to prove himself.
