The "Emma Sweeny" in this film is played by a Rio Grande Southern #20. This narrow gauge locomotive was built in 1899 by Schenectady Locomotive Works. The locomotive was repainted for this film and fitted with a false smokestack, headlight and other features to make it appear older. This was common for Western films, because real steam locomotives were often difficult to find. Shortly after filming was completed, the locomotive was placed in storage at the Colorado Railroad Museum in November 1951. Two years ago, the locomotive was made ready for operation after several restorations and regularly drives around the museum. The locomotive can also be regularly seen on the YouTube channel of Mark "Hyce" Huber. Since 2022, he has worked at the Colorado Railroad Museum, documenting much of the train's activities. He also makes educational videos about how steam locomotives work. For the scenes where the locomotive was off the tracks, a full-size wooden replica was built. This wooden model later changed hands several times, eventually being used in Petticoat Junction as a studio replacement for the Hooterville Cannonball. Some footage from this film was reused for the pilot episode of Casey Jones. The film features a cameo from Marilyn Monroe and photographer Berry. Old photos confirmed that Monroe was dating Berry at the time.

A reasonable and entertaining western with the necessary clichés. Nice to watch once, but not an absolute recommendation in its genre.
