Actress Reese Holden (Deschanel) gets the chance to make a small fortune from a publisher. She is asked to publish the love letters of her father, who is a famous writer. Reese travels to Michigan to visit her father and finds an ex-student and musician living with her father. Her father also appears to pay more attention to his new friends than to his own health.
