Mùa Oi plot
Hoa is a single man in his fifties who regularly poses as a model for students at the art academy in Hanoi. Since Hoa fell from a guava tree as a child, he has been mentally retarded: in fact, he still lives in his childhood. All the changes that have taken place have passed him by: the expropriation of the family house after the departure of the French army from Hanoi, the death of his parents, the departure of his brother abroad. His youngest sister, now married, has taken Hoa under her wing and takes care of him. Hoa is obsessed with one desire: he wants to return to his childhood home. One day he climbs over the garden wall to pick guavas. He is caught and arrested, but released again thanks to the intervention of a student who lives in the house. The girl is moved by Hoa's sincerity and decides to let him live in his old house. This does not go down well with her father, who thinks that Hoa belongs in a psychiatric institution. When Hoa finds out, he withdraws completely into his own world.
