Susan Essex lives only for her husband Matthew and daughter Justine. Then she catches Matthew with another woman and a divorce is the result. Susan tries to build a new life with Justine, but Justine doesn't make it any easier. When Justine's school friend is murdered and she turns out to be a suspect, the relationship between mother and daughter is put to the test.
