What combination have we not had yet? A children's film in which people are eaten (intestines and all)!!!
Thanks to the director and producers of this film who probably thought they were serving two target groups at once, but in practice received little support in both the children's film and horror film camps.
Somewhat obsessed with his nanny, an autistic 12-year-old who communicates telepathically with his teddy bear has discovered a deep pit in the forest with carnivorous creatures, great then we dump all the bullies and friends of our nanny into it... ..and that horrible girl next door.
The most beautiful murder scene is the one in which the troublesome neighbor is transported towards the pit in a wheelchair....hilarity at its finest, but of course it has nothing to do with horrors and horror.

Apparently the director was not allowed to film the nudity scenes by his wife. Only the skinny dipping scene, because the actress in question was his daughter.
The film revolves most around Jamie (strongly and entertainingly portrayed by Sammy Snyders). A boy who has difficulty in contact with peers. His early puberty makes him the most pervy 12-year-old in movie history.
Due to a lack of contact with peers, he falls in love with his nanny Sandy (Jeanie Elias). The phase in which Jamie becomes interested in Damea is exploited to the maximum. This results in some of the film's most entertaining scenes, such as the moments where he spies on his babysitter or plays the peeping Tom at the local librarian.
Partly due to his loneliness, his second personality manifested itself in his teddy bear.
When he discovers that the creatures eat meat, he decides to use all the nasty people as food. Unfortunately, this happens in a rather bland and bloodless way.
It's a shame they didn't go for a more serious horror (which was the original plan), because that might have worked in this case. Furthermore, they could have paid more attention to the monster costumes, because they looked very fake.
So most of the entertainment comes from Jamie's perks, but I must also say that I was not bored for a second with this film. Entertaining for horror dogs who are open to some softer work.

Twelve-year-old Jamie is an outsider. An eccentric. He doesn't have any friends. Neighbors speak slanderously about him. Even his own parents agree that their son is a strange child. When this strange child in the forest discovers a deep hole at the bottom of which a carnivorous monster family lives, it offers him perspective.

Not much happens in The Pit. The characters are not very interesting. The monsters look extremely unreal. The story has limited progression and is boring at times. The strong point of the film is the mysterious hole in the ground whose origin is not explained. This fact triggers the imagination and keeps interest in the film at an acceptable level.

Cinematically speaking, there is little wrong with the film. The camera work is good. The cast may represent uninteresting characters, but they do so very believably. The acting is okay. The story is promising in the making, but comes to a halt after the revelation of that promise. The Pit is a film with many flaws. While other films of this caliber can sometimes charm me, that was not the case with this film.
