State of Dogs plot
The film opens with the poem 'Death', recited and written by the young Mongolian poet Baatar Galsansukh. He sings seven reasons to die and seven reasons to live. According to Mongolian myths, a dog reincarnates as a human. 'State of Dogs' is filmed from the wandering soul of the dead street dog Baasar, who makes one last journey through his memories and his country. Baasar lived a good life as a herding dog, until he was abandoned by his owner and forced to survive as a mutt in the capital Ulan Bator. As Baasar resigns himself to his fate, the mythical dragon threatens to devour the sun to create utter chaos and destruction. Now Baasar's rebirth depends on man's power to chase Rah away.
