Beijing, 1900. The British are in power, much to the dismay of the Empress and her guard, the Boxers. They have been in revolt for two years and during a hot summer it becomes clear that a bloody resistance from the occupiers is inevitable. Empress Tsu Hsi controls the fate of all foreign delegations, but only makes a decision when the German ambassador is murdered by the fanatical Boxers. Major Lewis and all other delegations begin a long and exhausting battle against the rebels and the Imperial forces.
