Daniel Deronda plot
Daniel Deronda is a sensitive, intelligent and caring man. He is drawn to the beautiful, quirky Gwendolen Harth. Daniel senses that behind her self-assured performance lies a vulnerable beauty. At the same time, he is impressed by a young Jewish woman, Mirah Lapidoth, whose life he saves. Gwendolen, in turn, opts for a life of luxury and status, but ends up in a loveless marriage with an aristocrat who wants to tame his proud wife. Daniel is adopted by a wealthy aristocrat. Through Mirah's search for her Jewish roots, he becomes interested in the how and why of his background. Based on an 1876 story by George Eliot.
