H.O.T.S. plot

"Some like it H.O.T.S.!"

The HOTS group is the most popular student club at the local university. And that's understandable, because to the delight of the male students, the girls regularly organize wet t-shirt competitions and wild parties. And when college is extorted by a wicked businessman, the girls can prove they're not the dumbest, too.

Beer and tits, lalalalala. Beer and tits, la la la la la la!

Actually, I was quite pleased. Sure, it's a complete B-movie, a kind of cheap rip-off of Animal House but with sororities and lots of nudity. It's mainly about the sorority HOTS at a university, abbreviated to FU (yeah, right), whose goal is to seduce as many guys as possible, mainly to annoy those boxes from PI. So exactly what you can expect - lots of shower scenes, parties, all kinds of pranks with regular nudity, the dean in compromising situations, wet t-shirt contests. A trashy movie of course, with actresses who were mainly chosen for their cleavage and willingness to go topless, but with a few beers you can get through it.

Bram Vermeulen once sang divide me into the nonsense. That certainly applies to this film. The scenario is a series of pranks that in turn connect all kinds of scenes with topless young ladies. Eye candy is paramount here. But despite the great nonsense factor, there is still a storyline to be discerned and the apparent loose ends come together nicely at the end. At first glance it seems like loose sand, but that is not the case.

For me it was a first viewing and then you have to take into account the time period in which the film was made and try to look at it with the eyes of the audience of that time. There is no way that this kind of film would survive the concept phase of a production today. But in the late 70s things looked different. There was no internet exploding with all kinds of explicit sites. There was no commercial video market either. And there was a market for this kind of film at that time. It is all funny and quite innocent in the end. But yes, that final scene with two female football teams on the field who end up topless … this is unseen and I have seen quite a few films in the sex comedy genre lately. This film deserves cult status but it has not even been released on Blu-ray. Incomprehensible. I enjoyed it very much and score it very high in this genre. Besides that football scene there are more unforgettable funny scenes (for those who see the humor in it), like with the bear in the hot air balloon which is also unseen. Nice that they could get such films made back then.
