Persecution plot

Carrie Masters, a wealthy American, moves to Britain. There she marries her driver Robert. But Carrie soon gets tired of him. She also takes a lover, the unknown politician Paul Bellamy. She gives birth to a child, David, who is terrorized by his mother from childhood.
