Mediocre indeed.

Especially because the film can't really choose. The abandoned theme park idea is always good for some chill, I recently happened to wander around on a photography site with the same subject and in terms of setting for a horror movie it could count.

But Lau uses it to really mix up a whole bunch of horror ideas. Ghosts, zombies, clowns... Krueger himself comes to take a look. Something different every five minutes, which means there is far too little build-up in terms of tension. On the other hand, it never really gets boring, which is fortunately where the film scores some points.

Visually okay, although those 3D pieces are not exactly a blessing, especially without glasses. Furthermore, it is nicely designed, although here too it all looks a bit too fast and nervous. The acting is a downer, I think the film would even have been better without actors.

A bit mediocre, but just entertaining enough as a filler. Clearly another learning video for Lau.

2.5*

Messy horror film in which director Andrew Lau uses all kinds of horror elements to color The Park. It results in an entertaining whole, but one that looks quite chaotic and hardly takes the time to build up any kind of tension. The acting is also extremely substandard, meaning that the rather sentimental final phase has no effect whatsoever. Lau also uses computer effects several times, but these appear wooden and cheap. What remains is a nice atmosphere, a high tempo and a lot of noise. Fine for once, but certainly not a lasting impression.
