A Christmas Star plot
"This Christmas prepare to believe in miracles"
Born under dramatic circumstances under the poinsettia, Noelle believes she has the gift of performing extraordinary miracles. When underhanded property developer McKerrod threatens her peaceful life, she teams up with a group of misfits to save the village from the wrecker. One by one, however, her friends give up and lose faith in Noelle's abilities. Noelle is now on her own to stop McKerrod. She pulls out all the stops and calls in politicians.

The film was shot in Northern Ireland by Cinemagic International Film and Television Festival for Young People. This gave the young and mostly inexperienced members of the cast and crew an opportunity to work with professionals within the film industry and further develop their skills. The film was largely made in Glenarm, and ironically at a time when the Glenarm Castle Estates got involved in sordid dealings with the council. This as there would be a completely inappropriate building project on the site of the Potter's Glen factory. The film shows a number of familiar faces. The most famous are Pierce Brosnan, Liam Neeson and Kylie Minogue. Pierce Brosnan previously played Mr. Shepherd in The World's End. Producer Shauna Shivers McAtamney made her acting debut with this film.
For a family film with a small budget, I personally think it's a reasonable looker. Especially because the cast is quite inexperienced, and they still manage to deliver a decent film. Perhaps a better script would have resulted in a higher rating, but nevertheless this family film has its nice moments.
