Legends of the Canyon: The Origins of West Coast Rock plot
In the late 1960s and 1970s, Laurel Canyon in the Hollywood Hills became a haven for the cream of the crop of folk and rock music. Musicians exchanged ideas with each other, all kinds of talents came to full maturity. Crosby, Stills & Nash, The Mamas and the Papas, Joni Mitchell, they all loved the commune setting of Laurel Canyon. It was a magical time with a lot of great music being made, but it was also a tumultuous period for America, including the Vietnam War and the assassination of JFK. This documentary highlights one of the most creative periods in music history. We see interviews with David Crosby, Stephen Stills and Graham Nash and rare images of Mama Cass Elliot.
