"How do You Stop the killing"
The Monkey Maker killer has turned Seattle into a city of terror. His first six victims had their eyes gouged out, the second six had their ears cut off, and the last four had their tongues ripped out. Inspector Jim Renart and his partner Dorothy Smith investigate the latest victim and interrogate the man who found her, Tom Turner. Tom is an arrogant man who, in search of the ultimate challenge, seems willing to risk everything. The cat-and-mouse game escalates when Renart's pregnant wife is threatened.

Haha, that's right, about the DVD menu! God, I could have put something like that together. Within 10 minutes even. 
And yet it was a nice idea: ''His first six victims had their eyes gouged out, the second six had their ears cut off and the last four had their tongues ripped out.'' It seemed pretty creepy to me. But it wasn't. There is also no attempt to keep it exciting, because within the first 10 minutes you have basically seen everything and there is nothing left to guess. The film also pretends to be 'hip' by using loud, stirring music, but this has the opposite effect. There is no real atmosphere, partly because of these incredibly bad B-actors who are sometimes cringe-inducingly bad.
Horror film. But not in a positive way.

Director Uwe Boll's first foray abroad turns out to be rickety, specifically the acting and the storyline make absolutely no sense. The tone is set within the first 10 minutes by introducing a gruesome murder case, but this is quickly pushed into the background in favor of side issues and erotic tension. Casper van Dien and Michael Paré play idiotic characters and as a viewer you have to wait until the very last few minutes before you see any more sensation. Extremely boring film with a scarce number of decent scenes. Boll is clearly a director who has only been able to build up experience over the years.
