It's nice to see the actors again after so many years. They have clearly (especially Bach) changed. I enjoyed it, but the playing time is a bit long. It doesn't come close to the great series. Gets a small 3.0.

Getting a successful TV series from the stable to film it 12 years later with the same cast is a nice idea, but misses the mark. The charm of the TV series is no longer present in this film, which makes it all look a bit cheap. An exhausted concept that is no longer original.

James Best is too old for this role. He tries everything he can to put the clumsy Sheriff Rosco back down, but does so with a little too much enthusiasm. This makes it look quite forced. Ben Jones has become a completely different Cooter, and so has Catherine Bach. She no longer knows how to steal hearts with her killer body from the past. It is painful to see how she has deteriorated so much in 12 years. I understand that people get older, but the average TV series fan is really not waiting for this. The loss of Sorrell Booke is a major loss to the film. The fact that James Best tries to give this role a bit of meaning is a big miss. Bo and Luke seemed convincing to me, but their age shows on them. They are no longer the young country boys of yesteryear. It's nice that Denver Pyle was able to experience this, a few months before his death.

I can best describe this film as a cozy reunion of the protagonists. They all visibly enjoy being able to redo their 'old role' again. However, the elaboration of this film is not worth much, nor does it come close to the TV series. That's why I think 2 stars is more than enough.
