Tiengemeten - Deel 1 plot
The island of Tiengemeten is located 20 kilometers south of Rotterdam as the crow flies. It is the last remaining island in the southwest delta of the Netherlands. It was once a sandbank that became overgrown with reeds and brush. Around 1800 the first farmers settled on the island. And gradually more and more mud flats outside the dikes were reclaimed. In 1996 Tiengemeten consisted of 700 hectares of fertile agricultural land, with 6 farms. It is now 2001. A detailed plan for nature development is ready, based on thorough research by dozens of experts. Five farmers have moved elsewhere, one farmer is still left. As long as he is still there, the implementation of the plan cannot be started. No one knows how it will go on. But the process will continue to be followed on film for years to come.
