Most Iranian films I have seen are about the oppression of women and that is no different here. Only the approach is different here. It is not immediately clear in which time we are exactly, but I suspect somewhere before the Iranian Revolution in 1979, when things were still a bit freer for women.

Here you get a view of a horde of women taking part in an exam. It wasn't clear to me exactly what about, but that's secondary. More interesting were the interactions and the events on the street. Apart from some chitchat and even flirting (yes), the men present demand attention. One accompanied his wife to check her out, other youngsters who wanted to pick up chicks were chased away and a man (or father) was looking for his wife (daughter) who wanted to take the exam without his permission.

In those small interactions you learned a lot about the film and you notice that the Iranian woman remains very dependent on her husband or father. Fascinating on one side, but also a bit too monotonous to make it a real top film.
