Doesn't have much to it. I wouldn't call it horror, at most a weak thriller about an "intelligent" electrical signal that attacks the residents of a house. Moreover, it already takes a full hour for anything of significance to happen. A few nice special effects, but otherwise it is a lousy (but original) script and ditto acting. I liked the already mentioned similar Ghost in the Machine much better.

Sad thriller. A lot of foreplay in which nothing of note happens, followed by about twenty minutes of hectic action. And even then it won't be exciting.

There are several reasons for the lack of tension. Flat camera work is something like that. Instead of a shot generating tension on its own, there is exciting music that briefly stirs and alerts the viewer that it is going to be exciting. Phew, we know that again.

The lousy acting is certainly worth mentioning. No conviction whatsoever among the actors. And so I have no conviction. The atmospheric setting also does not really stimulate the senses.

But the most important reason, I think, is that a pulse as an evil force does not appeal to the imagination. You can't do much with it. It is difficult to personify a pulse. It remains a vague and abstract phenomenon. And such a vague abstract power is not exciting. At least that's how I experienced it.

I actually expected something from this film. I'm not a fan of electricity or electrical equipment myself. Not that it is a phobia, but at times a kind of compulsive behavior whether the plug is turned off or not.

But this movie had little of any of that. An old-fashioned character with very little happening. It gets a bit more intense towards the end, but a few decades later this doesn't mean much anymore.

I was hoping for something like the impact of the Dutch film De Lift (Film, 1983), but it never came to that. The film remains flat and scary. The acting is nothing to write home about either.
