This movie is so bad that it just becomes fun again.

The gore effects are still quite nicely done for a film with little to no budget. The killer looks so over-the-top that I secretly grinned every time he came into view.

The acting is quite terrible, but here and there a number of nice bad characters appear, such as the obese redneck sheriff and a man in a wheelchair who adds nothing, but really nothing (one of the most random moments of the movie).

The soundtrack is cringeworthy and the film seems to have been shot with a handheld camera (sometimes you can just count the steps of the cameraman based on the movement of the camera).

This is one of those true "so bad, it's good" movies. I must honestly say that I really enjoyed it every now and then.

I really liked the revision, and I really didn't see that coming at all. Don't Go in the Woods is clearly a crappy film, that is clear, but it is presented with so much clumsiness that it becomes touching. The crappy editing, ridiculous bad guy who can only shout "AAARGGHH" and especially the sound that was completely recorded in post-production make this a more than entertaining watch. Longer review:

This was shot on a budget of nothing and in that sense they have made what can be made of it. Of course it is all short-sighted and at times laughable. The music is also funny at times in combination with what is happening. The cast is a charisma-less and at times overacting mess. The mountain man is hilarious. And yet - or maybe that's why - I still enjoyed it every now and then. This is a film from the cult shelf. Made at the time of Friday the 13th but then you can see the difference in quality. Otherwise, the critics of Ft13 should ignore this.

I read another interview with director James Bryan about the working process where apparently there were some tensions with the actors from time to time. For example, no one wants the 'campfire horror story' scene. It's also pretty poorly acted. But Bryan is a stubborn man - as a director he also has to be on his toes, of course - and reasoned that the scene should be left in anyway. He told the actors that in this way they were shooting in their own foot. Point made
