Les Âmes Fortes plot
Thérèse escapes from the castle at the age of 22, where she is employed as a maid. She and Firmin flee to the city of Châtillon. The idiosyncratic Thérèse soon becomes fascinated by the aristocratic couple Numance. Especially Mrs Numance with her strange look and her determination appeals to her imagination. Thérèse lends a hand to fate and ensures that she ends up in the hands of Mrs. Numance. These two women are clearly soul mates and they are increasingly hanging out with each other.
