The Yellow Rolls-Royce plot
"The screen's most exciting cast...in the year's most magnificent movie."
Lord Charles Frinton is a diplomat who has bought a beautiful yellow 'Rolls Royce Phantom II' as a gift for his wife Lady Eloise Frinton. After Frinton's horse has won the Royal Gold Cup, he becomes very angry when he catches his wife with his underling John Fane in the back seat of the Rolls. In the 1930s, the Rolls is bought by the Italian mobster Maltese Paolo, who wants to impress the young Mae Jenkins with the car. Paolo takes the Rolls on a trip to Italy and together with Mae he sees all the historical sites. Mae, however, turns out to be less impressed than he is. While Paolo is back in the States for criminal matters, Mae has fun in the backseat of the Rolls with a street photographer. The attractive married American Gerda Millett buys the Rolls in 1942. After the Nazi Germany attack on Yugoslavia, the brave Gerda helps Davich by smuggling him over the border with the Rolls.
