Street of No Return plot

Once a well-known rock singer, Michael now roams the streets as an alcoholic after Eddie, the gangster boyfriend of Celia, the woman he once had an affair with, ruined his vocal cords, ending his career. After riots in a slum, he is arrested by the police as an alleged "cop killer". However, he escapes and finds out that Eddie is behind these riots to lower the value of the houses in this neighborhood. He returns with this information to the police in the hope that they can free Celia from her violent environment.
