It's the summer of 1952 in Arkansas. Luke is still young and he lives on the farm with his parents and grandparents. They lead a quiet life, although they are not very well off. When two groups of seasonal workers come to help pick cotton, tensions run high and the violence is unstoppable. This is what young Luke witnesses and the secret he must keep may eventually destroy his family.
