Menuet plot

Pol is a sad man who works in the freezer room of a brewery. His marriage to Mariette is cool. Everyone lives their own life. They don't want children. As soon as he gets home, he retires to his room to paste newspaper clippings about horrific events and view his collection of pictures of wildflowers. Mariette, blond, expressive, thinks Pol is a strange man, but stays with him. She is boxed in by a cousin who delivers her sewing and keeps trying to seduce her. She finally gives in and is taken into the shed in the courtyard. She becomes pregnant and gives birth to a child. Eva is the young girl who does the housework for Mariëtte after school and who also has a very vivid fantasy about what adult life is like, especially sexually.
