After his daughter is blinded in a car accident, surgeon Chaney becomes obsessed with repairing her shortcoming. Together with his colleague, he removes the eyeballs from unwilling "patients" in order to have a donor for a transplant. Soon, few people close to Dr. Chaney eyes over!

A horrific horror film with a creepy doctor who removes the eyes of unwilling victims to restore his blind daughter's sight. And all those eyeless victims are put in the basement!
No cozy Saw-esque horror with the whole family enjoying popcorn here.
Horrible, sick, nasty and intense.
Masterpiece!

The misleading poster and title suggest it's a haunted house horror, but Mansion of the Doomed tells the story of a desperate doctor determined to provide his daughter with a new pair of eyes at all costs. Unsuspecting victims are lured into his basement, while the doctor grows increasingly deranged...
The film is a bit dated, but the acting remains strong. It's nice to see Henriksen in an early role. The effects are quite good at times, although more of the surgeries could have been shown. Quite exciting, but nothing special, and unfortunately, the film eventually becomes a bit repetitive. The ending is delightfully ironic, but a bit of a stretch, of course.

Seen on the uncut Blu-ray from 101BlackLabel. Banned at the time as a Section 3 Video Nasty. Known in the UK as "The Terror of Dr. Chaney" and "Massacre Mansion." The first horror film from Charles Band's Full Moon Features.
After a surgeon's daughter goes blind in a car accident, her father becomes obsessed with restoring her sight. He experiments first on animals and later on humans by removing their eyeballs.
The film starts off a bit slow, but the last half hour is certainly exciting and the makeup effects by none other than Stan Winston look good!
Starring a young Lance Henriksen in one of his first roles, he plays one of the victims held captive in a cage in the basement. For the observant viewer, you might also spot a Jaws movie poster.
