De Mannetjesmaker plot

From the moment Ben Mertens is introduced into Catholic offices by the KVP politician Herbert van de Wall, he acts as a public relations man for the party and its celebrities. He becomes overworked, after which a morphine treatment initiates his addiction. The more he is abused by politicians and businessmen, the deeper his megalomania grows, until he is finally wrecked in the Ursula clinic in 1969, where he dies of a morphine overdose. Attempts to indict the doctor who had given him morphine for a long time have failed. Reconstruction of a Dutch political scandal from the 1960s.
