Esther is a young princess who, in the midst of all the tumult and war, tries to form a relationship with the attractive King Ahasuerus. However, the king does not have much time for her. Moreover, the villainous counselor Haman tries to put a stop to their relationship.

The recently widowed Persian king Ahasuerus wants to marry the beautiful Esther. But Esther is Jewish, and Haman, the king's evil minister, sows hatred against the Jews. This Biblical epic film, set in the 4th century B.C.E., stars Richard Egan (Demetrius and the Gladiators, A Summer Place) as Ahasuerus and Italian star Sergio Fantoni as Haman. Esther is played by none other than Joan Collins, who would later become famous as the schemer Alexis Carrington in the popular television series Dynasty.
Richard Egan plays a charismatic king but why he doesn't want to know from the start with whom his wife has been unfaithful is a weak point in the story.
Furthermore, a beautifully made epic with themes such as intrigue, love and betrayal and of course a beautiful young Joan Collins, it cannot compete with great productions such as Spartacus or Ben Hur but it is certainly worth watching.
