This Biblical drama (Old Testament, Genesis) was a bit of a disappointment to me. The fact that it is a long film is not a problem in itself, but I did not find this film to have any high points. It is poorly acted and just not interesting to follow. Lot and the Hebrews settle in the plains of the Jordan, and make an alliance with the queen of Sodom. However, he refuses to give in to the morally odious customs of the Sodomites so that there is a fragile balance between the two peoples. "Detestable" here mainly refers to slavery, and hints at lust here and there. But don't expect poop, vomit, and cunt that would better suit a more realistic Sodom and Gomorrah movie. There must be a better reason God destroyed these cities than what Aldrich dutifully shows in this slick spectacle film.

I noticed that Sergio Leone was also involved in this project; At least it's in the credits, but I can't find much more than the following...

Sergio Leone was hired to shoot some second unit photography but he left during the shoot – either quitting or being fired.
