A film that responds to the great fear of the 50s population for the atomic bomb and that also conveniently piggybacks on the sensational attention that there is in those days for a possible invasion by dangerous extraterrestrial life.
The story makes grateful use of this frightening mindset, but is rather simple in design and also a bit stupid. It's about invisible aliens hiding in dead bodies to conquer the Earth. Well. Why on earth would they do that, when invisibility is their greatest strength? No idea. I quickly let go of that thought, because the film experience is better and more fun without that thought.
The short running time and fast editing keep the film watchable. Much sensational archival footage of collapsing houses and bridges is skilfully pasted between the scenes. They shake up the movie. That is necessary, because the scenes played are not very exciting. With exaggerated hectic behavior, some exaggerated weapon clatter and theatrically staggering zombies, the tension is not exactly whipped up.
A few nice effects that emphasize the invisibility of the aliens do have that exciting impact. Annoying is that precisely those nice effects are repeated over and over, so that they have less and less exciting impact over time. Still, they are fun to watch.
And then there is always the message. The underlying edifying message advocating for the banning of the atomic bomb and encouraging cooperation between nations seeps mercilessly through the story. It was a bit like the edifying message from another and slightly better sci-fi film, The Day the Earth Stood Still (1951). That movie repeatedly popped into my mind. Seen a long time ago, but I don't think there is any further resemblance.
'Invisible Invaders' actually didn't do much for me.

Wow, this was really a movie that did not appeal to me. Maybe it was state of the art at the time, but this looked laughable. At the rate those aliens moved, it would take them centuries to conquer Earth. They were technologically advanced, but they had no weapons that worked here. And so there were a few clumsy developments in this film. Don't worry, I'm convinced I'll see something better the next few days

1.5*
