Dillinger and Capone plot

J. Edgar Hoover's men killed the wrong Dillinger, not John but his brother. The 'real' Dillinger leaves the mistaken identity for what it is and takes on a new identity. But "Scarface" Al Capone knows the secret of Dillinger's new life and confronts him about it. He wants Dillinger to do one more heist, at a bank where Capone has deposited millions. Dillinger can't refuse the offer: While Chicago's most notorious mobster is holding his wife and son hostage, now, five years after "his death," he must commit the biggest bank robbery of all time.

Gamble at the thrift store, because yes, who would pass up a film with the names Capone and Dillinger? Plus, the cast didn't seem crazy at all either. But the fact that I didn't know the title was kind of a bell that went off. And that bell was right, namely that this was not very much.

The plot concerns a fictional story between gangster boss Capone and master bank robber John Dillinger. And it must be said that it could have been quite interesting in itself, because what did Capone do in those last years before his death? And was it indeed John Dillinger who was shot dead by the FBI in front of a movie theater in Chicago. Several sources report that many things were wrong with the autopsy report, confessions did not recognize the body as Dillinger and then decades later another letter surfaced with a photo signed by J. Dillinger. In the photo... an older man who looked suspiciously like Dillinger. Hoax or real...? Who's to say...

Food for something interesting you would say, and the beginning with the chase is quite reminiscent of the quite pleasant Bonnie and Clyde with Beatty and Dunaway, but otherwise they fail to make anything of it. During the 90 minutes that the film lasts, there is not a single moment or phase that fascinates me. In fact, the first hour is endless drivel until twenty minutes before the end when the heist/robbery finally starts. And that climax is also disappointing. Capone in all his craziness, syphilis, is portrayed reasonably by Murray F. Abraham. The character of Dillinger is disappointing, Sheen works with what he can, but I can hardly imagine that Dillinger, also not dear brother, would let himself be used like this and actually come across as a pussy.

No, this was actually just three times nothing, uninteresting, not exciting, and script technically I had nothing in it. Quickly forgotten I would say.
