"The lure of Gold can make a man do anything. Anything."
A couple of young adventurers set out in the wilderness of British Columbia in search of a missing colleague. However, their plane crashes and in the woods they come across Silas McGee (Charlton Heston), a miserly Scottish miner who has been searching for a gold treasure in the caves for decades. He will not let anyone stop him in this and is willing to do anything to keep the gold for himself.
