As Joëlle and her retired friend walk to the beach in Marseille, they pass graffiti telling old women to keep their bras on. Joëlle bares her torso, flips the graffiti off, and continues her day. This beach is theirs: Joëlle and her friends come here every day. To sunbathe, drink, and talk about sex—explicitly and unashamedly.

Joëlle and the girls (but Serge is welcome too) descend daily on their favorite, shabby Marseille beach for an afternoon of chilling. Judging by the "Old folks get lost!" graffiti, they've already earned a reputation. These loitering seniors are loud, sharp-tongued, incredibly horny, and completely devoid of shame. To put it in French: they have joie de vivre.

Feel-good short film of the year. Everyone who sees it thinks: "That's how I want to grow old, just not give a damn what other people think, and just enjoy life." Especially when you hear about the misery they've left behind.

Screened at IDFA, was now being revived at Cavia. Hopefully coming soon to an arthouse cinema near you, because this film deserves it.
