The Mandalorian and Grogu (2026)

A good film in which the bounty hunter goes on a mission with his adopted son. In fact, you could consider this film a condensed 4th season of The Mandalorian. Presented in an adventurous way, with plenty of action as well. The story itself isn't anything special, but Grogu remains a fun creature, of course, and the music by Ludwig Göransson is also worth mentioning.

Good old-fashioned entertainment with surprisingly many fun action moments in imaginative worlds full of crazy creatures. And when it comes to creatures, you can certainly enjoy yourself here. Quite a few make an appearance, accompanied by beautiful locations and sets. The story is very thin, but that doesn't matter much here. There is so much entertainment in this film that the more than two-hour runtime flies by. Another plus is the presence of typical tunes from The Mandalorian, with an even greater focus on the background music, making the soundtrack come across quite strongly.

Saw it in the cinema yesterday, which definitely adds value to this type of film. 7.5 / 10

Pretty good. The first hour is packed with action and you won't be bored for a moment. At times there is also beautiful production design (that Asian-looking city with neon, the Hutts' living quarters) that manages to capture the feel of the films from 40-50 years ago well, yet in a fresh new package. A bit like the whole series already is.

The second hour is a bit weaker. The pace drops, and because the characters remain fairly one-dimensional, the film drags at times, although there are still plenty of cool scenes where the music stands out in particular. The highlight there is an action scene in the woods accompanied by the quiet tones of a pan flute (?). That created a really cool effect. Rounded up to 3.5*.

A decent installment in the Star Wars series. The story isn't particularly special but offers enough entertainment to fill two hours. The execution is somewhat inconsistent but overall more than adequate. The first part is rock-solid with great, suspenseful action scenes and an excellent SW vibe. The second part is still entertaining but feels a bit rushed. Everything happens just a little too fast and too easily. Visually, everything is top-notch with strong special effects and design. The soundtrack is distinctive and sometimes feels a bit inappropriate, but is otherwise not distracting. 3.5/4.0
