Enjoyable film. Like the user above, I'm also a fan of these kinds of slice-of-life films with a bit of coming-of-age and a focus on ordinary people. Nice atmosphere, engaging characters, and a great location with the apartment building and the badminton court inside. However, the film occasionally lacks a bit of suspense, and shots or scenes are just a bit too long. This didn't happen easily to someone like Ozu (to whom the film seems indebted). Towards the end, there's a bit more drama, which is a shame in some ways, but it works well in this film because it gives the film a little more power. 3.5 stars.
